SMS server

This project started back in 2002 when i bought an old "outdated" AS/400 32 U rack. I didnt have alot of living space so i wanted to pack all my computers into this rack. Back then i had 3 computers so i guess it was overkill to get a rack. After i got the rack i started to get interested in servers and the use of em. After a few years i had some problems with computers crashing or not responding. This made me dedicate a computer to pure survailence of computers. At first it was a standart desktop computer running ping loops and dumping the result into a file. Problem was it didnt work well. Then i discovered that the rack's internal powersupply was a VERY big one. This gave me an idea i could use. I bought a Mini-ITX computer and scooped out the original contents of the PSU. Then i mounted the Mini-ITX in it along with a standart computer PSU and a laptop harddisk. The name i gave it came later when i added a GSM modem to the computer. Today the computer runs a program calld servers alive (it keeps an eye on my servers and my isp and dumps the result into a html file witch is used by my survailance computer) and a homemade program called SMS-server (witch basic collect TCP/IP packages, with a number and a message, and send it to the GSM modem, so it can b sendt as a text message for cellphones). This computer is also my printer server. So if this little computer crashes (witch have happend once before), ill not b able to print, send text messages or keep an eye on my servers.
Status: Done.
